This morning I received the welcome news that an article I wrote about an experience I had in India will be printed in the next online Women of the Harvest magazine. The excitement I felt wasn’t related to the large amount of cash I’ll receive for the article, because the amount is exactly zero, but instead it’s about breaking into a new publication AND the fact that this site is just perfect for my writing and interests.

I found the site several years ago and followed one of their blogs called Coffeegirl Confessions. The author was in an undisclosed South or Central American country and told weekly of her cross-cultural experiences as a missionary wife. Her experiences so mirrored the things we see during our times in India–everything from corrupt policemen to unrealistic expectations put on the “rich white woman.” I loved that blog. It’s now archived on the site and has been succeeded by The Yellow Dress written by a young single woman on the mission field. There are also other goodies at WOTH, including a writer’s blog to encourage women to tell their stories, a blog by long-time missionary Jamie Jo called In Real Life, weekly devotionals including an e-photo praise and so much more.

One of the really wonderful things WOTH does is sponsor scholarships for women on the mission field to attend retreats. They’re taken to a resort somewhere in the big, wide world and treated like queens for a week and boy, do they deserve it!

So in November you can log on to the Women of the Harvest website and read my article, Captured in His Presence. I’m really proud to be part of such a wonderful service to women in ministry all around the world.
