The guys in my life are something special. There’s my husband who has grown up with me all these years and who both stretches me and keeps me laughing. Then there’s my son who can also make me laugh. Laughing counts for a lot when the world is oil spilling and stock markets are crashing and the news is bad. My son also makes me proud because he’s smart and kind-hearted and can live in D.C. and stay sane. Then there’s my son in law who amazes me with his energy and vision for the future and who, like my son, has a big heart for others. He also happens to be the father of my three little grandsons. So those are the three big guys, but the picture is of my three little guys.
Elijah just turned eight this week. He got a bike that would make many twelve year olds drool and a remote control helicopter that really flies and…..ta da! He got Fluffball the teddy bear hamster. He got a lot of other cool things as well. It’s great being eight. School is out, the Idaho mountains are as green as they ever get and there will be all summer to play outside. Then there’s Jacob, my middle guy who has a lot of his Grandpa Pierce in him. He is old enough to shower alone now and thought it would probably also be okay to shave his face. He came out of that adventure with just a tiny nick and some fears that he will soon look like Abraham Lincoln since he’s been told shaving makes the hair grow faster. Benjamin, curly-headed number three grandson is all boy. Being the youngest he’s often heard saying, “How about me?” with lots of pleading facial expressions to match his words. He can run all day long and never gets tired. Well, at least he’s not tired until nap time. He can dance and sing and likes to entertain whoever happens to be around.
Two of my guys are fathers, so here’s a Happy Father’s Day wish to both of you. Thanks for being the guys in my family and for putting big smiles on my face–you’re the best.
