I’m excited to be a guest tomorrow afternoon on WLGT, We Love God Talk Radio. I’ll be sharing about the dual ministry I’ve entered into since my retirement from teaching four years ago. During my last year of teaching I visited India with my husband who had been traveling there for about six years at the time. All his stories and pictures didn’t prepare me for what I saw there with my own eyes. A quick two weeks during my Christmas break forever changed the way I see ministry and service to the poor. About the same time I began to say to myself, ” Wouldn’t it be great to publish something before I die?” I’ve always been a bookworm and have always enjoyed playing around with words. I even entertained the idea of writing as a young wife, but then motherhood and career got in the way and I never followed through. I joined a critique group, found Oregon Christian Writers and have never looked back. Again I learned more in a year’s time than I ever thought possible. Before I was fully aware of my new pathways, I was spending several months a year in India and learning the craft of writing. My retirement is busy and fulfilling and there are no dull moments. You can follow my work in India (with my husband Roger, and our Teams India projects) at www.onehandfulofrice.org.
